Assignment 407 (SOCIAL MEDIAL TOOLS)

Hi everyone, today I would like to share about my individual assignment for the subject Management of Internet Information Sources and Services(IMC407). It is about social media tools for social network application. I choose “Omlet Chat” and I will share all information about Omlet Chat with you guys.

    

     

   

INTRODUCTION:

SOCIAL NETWORK: Social networking on social media websites involves the use of the internet to connect users with their friends, family and acquaintances. Social media websites are not necessarily about meeting new people online, although this does happen. Instead, they are primarily about connecting   with friends, family and acquaintances you already have in real life.The most well-known social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. These sites allow you to share photos, videos and information, organize events, chat, and play online games.

BACKGROUND:

Omlet Chat is the first app “hatched” by Omlet Inc. a start-up in the StartX incubator at Stanford, founded by serial entrepreneur and Stanford Computer Science Professor Monica Lam and her team of Stanford CS PhD candidates Ben Dodson, Ian Vo and TJ Purtell. Omlet was founded in 2012 after three years of research funded by a National Science Foundation grant for the MobiSocial Lab at Stanford. Furthermore, omlet envisions a future in which we each own and manage our own photos, chats, and emails, without privacy concerns and hyper-targeted advertising.

FUNCTION:

· Omlet Chat is the ability for groups to find, connect, and collaborate with one another.
· We can make our own sticker, edit photo and more.
· We can share anything that we want such as text, images, video, music with anyone from any device which is Android and IOS.
· Besides message, we also can use voice note to deliver our message. 
· We can like something such as chat, picture in our conversation as many times as we want. We also can unlike it.
· We also can set it to mute. For example, turn off notification by tapping on the sound button.
· Furthermore, we can share our chat and our conversation with choose the option which is Bluetooth, email, gmail and etc.
· We can set it to private if we do not want any random people in our chat.

 APPLICATION:

- Omlet Chat enables consumers to share anything (text, images, files, video, music), with anyone, from any device (IOS or Android) 

- One of the key features of Omlet Chat is the ability for groups to find, connect, and collaborate with   one another.

- Omlet chat also does not required any payment or purchased.

- Besides that, omlet chat users can share their precious moment by sharing their pictures, videos and etc.

  

ANALYSIS:

Omlet Chat enables consumers to share anything (text, images, files, video, music), with anyone, from any device (IOS or Android). One of the key features of Omlet Chat is the ability for groups to find, connect, and collaborate with one another. This enables users to create “social galleries” of their photos or chat with new friends without sharing any personal information regardless of what other networks they belong to. By leveraging the power of the phone and its social DNA, Omlet Chat will introduce the new “Open Messaging” experience to the global marketplace. Smartphone and tablet provider ASUS is embedding Omlet Chat as a native app on all units of ZenFone, the revolutionary new phone that it unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 6, 2014 and released April 8, 2014.

ADVANTAGES:

·      Omlet chat is a free application and does not required any payment or cost to install.

·      Omlet Chat is the ability for groups to find, connect, and collaborate with one another.

·      We can get information faster and also can save our time without spending our money.

·       We also can share picture and video anytime with others.

·     Can connecting the people around the world which is family, friends and others.

DISADVANTAGES:

·       Unable to see “Last Seen”.

·        Unable to see people typing and online.

·        Can make someone not able to manage their time because negligent with this application.

·        This application also can make someone addicted. Especially for those who is youth.

BENEFIT TO THE CITIZEN:

- People are able to connect with each other without any payment and can start their conversation.

-  User can share their photos, videos, music, files and etc with others.

- User can save their time and at the same time they also can get information about the current issues faster.

- User also can manage their data in any way they want.

- User able to play games without any payment.

  

CONCLUSION:

Omlet chat  is one of the social media tools that give a lot of benefits for the users. Omlet chat can connects people all around the world without any payment to install this application. We also can save our time and at the same time we also can get information about the current issues faster. Besides, we also can share our precious moments with others such as family and friends by sharing  pictures and videos.
